Allier has the lowest country-house median in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes: €115,000 in 2025, half the regional median of €230,000, for an average plot of 4,565 m². In tourist inland communes the median falls to €84,775 over 2020-2025, yet it rose by 36.8% between 2021 and 2025 as leisure demand catches up with a long-overlooked market. In the west, around Montluçon and the Tronçais forest, hedged farmland and the Cher valley attract walkers and anglers, at the lowest prices. In the centre, the Allier valley from Moulins to Saint-Pourçain-sur-Sioule combines a wild river, vineyards and Romanesque churches along the best-connected corridor. In the south-east, Vichy and the hillier Montagne Bourbonnaise add spa visitors and hikers. In the north-east, the Sologne Bourbonnaise is known for its ponds and brick houses.
