Rabbit production is found mainly in western France, where land sits close to the national average, and more sparsely in the South-West and the Centre. For a rabbit breeding unit, the gap between regions matters far less than the condition of the building, its sanitary compliance and the contracted outlet with a slaughterhouse or a producer group. A rabbit unit is judged first on its livestock building: a closed, insulated structure with controlled climate, forced ventilation, cages or pens for the breeding and fattening rooms, manure removal and a feed silo. Batch management dictates a room layout to be taken over without heavy works; a recent building, or one refurbished to current animal-welfare standards, sells well above an ageing unit.
The breeding does, their genetic line and health status are valued separately, as are machinery and stocks; an on-farm slaughter room or a direct-sales customer base is valued in its own right.

There is no reliable average: an old building to convert and a recent unit with house, contract and stock in place have nothing in common. The price is built item by item: the building according to age and compliance, stock and machinery at market value, land at the regional farmland price, plus the value of the contracted outlet.

There is no nationality restriction, and the conditions are the same for everyone: obtain the agricultural professional qualification or partner with a qualified farmer, and pass the structures control.
