A gîte for sale in Gard sits where Provence, the Cévennes and the Camargue meet. The Pont du Gard, the arena and Maison Carrée in Nîmes, the ducal town of Uzès, Aigues-Mortes, the Cèze valley, the Gardon gorges and the Cévennes national park draw guests from spring to autumn, while Côtes du Rhône and Costières de Nîmes vineyards, Provençal markets and olive groves add to the appeal.
Listings are often stone mas (Provençal farmhouses) with several gîtes, double village houses, farm estates to restore and a few historic homes, some of them listed monuments. The page is for buyers after a house with gîte or a mas with gîtes, those taking over a running business and owners preparing a sale. An email alert (in French) keeps you posted.

Gard is one of the pricier departments in Occitanie, with a 2025 median of €265,000 for a country house. Tourist inland communes in the Cévennes and garrigue have a median of €221,885 and fell by 7.2% between 2021 and 2025, while remote rural communes rose by 7.5%, so there is room to negotiate. A mas with gîtes, pool and land belongs to the large-home market, where the department median is €824,700 over 2021-2025 (indicative), with eight sales in ten between €526,300 and €1,405,900.
The Uzès area and the Cèze valley hold the most sought-after mas and a loyal international clientele. The Nîmes area enjoys a long season. In the south, the Petite Camargue and Aigues-Mortes live off summer and the beaches of Le Grau-du-Roi, on flat land exposed to flooding. To the west and north, the Cévennes around Anduze, Saint-Jean-du-Gard and Le Vigan offer lower prices and walkers. The A9 and A54 serve the south, Nîmes-Pont-du-Gard station has high-speed trains, and Nîmes and Montpellier airports are nearby. The choice lies between the pricier Uzès area, busy for much of the year, and the shorter but cheaper season of the Cévennes valleys.
The Gard mas, in limestone under Roman tiles, often has sheds, vaulted cellars or magnaneries (former silkworm houses) ready for conversion; works on or near listed buildings are regulated. Autumn Cévennes storms can bring flash floods on the Gardon, Cèze and Vidourle, and the garrigue is exposed to wildfire, with mandatory brush clearing. Check the risk report, the septic system inspected by the SPANC service and the registration of each meublé de tourisme (furnished holiday let) under the law of 19 November 2024. A mas that also hosts weddings must meet public-building rules; see our event venues section.
Mainly between Uzès, the Cèze valley and the Cévennes foothills around Anduze. They usually combine a main house, two or three separate units and a pool; check the land, storm access and roofs before committing.
