A B&B for sale in Finistère lives to the rhythm of the sea, the islands and a strong Breton culture, at the very western tip of France. The Pointe du Raz, the Crozon peninsula, the islands of Ouessant and Sein, the Léon estuaries, the parish closes, Locronan, Pont-Aven and the walled town of Concarneau draw coastal-path walkers, families and British visitors arriving at Roscoff. Maritime festivals in Brest and Douarnenez and summer events such as the Vieilles Charrues in Carhaix fill the calendar.
Suitable properties range from large seaside houses already run as chambres d'hôtes to homes with separate gîtes, as well as longères (long farmhouses), manors and sea captains' houses. This page is for buyers of a running guest house and owners preparing to sell. Compare with neighbouring Morbihan and set up an email alert (in French).

Finistère sits close to the Breton average for a country house, at a median €215,000 in 2025, but prices here have risen fastest since 2020, by 28.7%. A guest house with several bedrooms exceeds the €350,000 top decile and compares with prestige homes: a median of €800,000 over 2021-2025 (indicative), with most sales between €509,000 and €1,237,000. The best benchmark is the tourist coastline, at €243,500 over 2020-2025, against €112,500 in the tourist inland, where the Monts d'Arrée offer much more space for the money.
The Léon in the north combines estuaries, Roscoff and Saint-Pol-de-Léon, with ferry passengers close at hand. Around Brest, the Iroise sea and its islands attract sailors and nature lovers. The Crozon peninsula and the Aulne lie within the Armorique regional nature park, which reaches the Monts d'Arrée, a walking area with lower prices. In the south, Cornouaille brings together Quimper, Locronan, Douarnenez, the Pointe du Raz, the Pays Bigouden, Concarneau and Pont-Aven: the longest season, but the highest prices. The N12 links Brest to Rennes, the N165 serves Quimper and the south coast, high-speed trains reach Brest, Quimper and Morlaix, and Brest and Quimper airports have French and European flights.
Granite longères, dressed-stone town houses, small fishermen's cottages and slate-roofed manors make up the local stock. Wind and salt spray wear roofs, joinery and render, so budget for upkeep. Granite bedrock means radon should be measured. Parts of the coast face marine flooding and erosion, and the loi Littoral (coastal planning law) restricts extensions; on the islands, getting builders and materials across adds cost. Rural homes often rely on a private septic system inspected by the local SPANC service. A chambres d'hôtes business is limited to 5 rooms and 15 guests at a time, breakfast included, and must be declared at the mairie (town hall). Serving cider at the table d'hôtes requires at least a restaurant licence and a specific permit; our article on whether evening meals pay (in French) helps you decide.
In tourist coastal municipalities an ordinary country house sold for a median €243,500 over 2020-2025. A house large enough for five guest rooms with a sea view moves into the prestige market, around €800,000 at the department median. Our guest house buying guide (in French) covers every cost, from the compromis de vente (preliminary contract) to completion before the notaire.
Summer is peak season, but spring weekends, school holidays, walkers and business guests around Brest and Quimper extend the year. Test your assumptions with our B&B profitability simulator (in French) and have an accountant review them.
The building is sold before the notaire after a preliminary contract; furniture, website and bookings are often included. The seller provides accounts, the town hall declaration, mandatory surveys and the septic report; the buyer then files their own declaration.
