Buying a wedding venue for sale in Bas-Rhin (67) puts you close to a large and varied clientele: Alsatian couples, Strasbourg companies and European institutions, and families from neighbouring Baden in Germany. The département offers settings in high demand for weddings: Strasbourg's Grande Île, the half-timbered villages of the Alsace wine route around Obernai and Barr, Mont Sainte-Odile, Haut-Koenigsbourg castle and the sandstone forests of the Northern Vosges.
Venues are often courtyard farms, manor houses, wine estates, old mills on the Bruche or the Moder and a few houses in parkland. This page is for buyers of an event estate, for anyone taking over a trading venue and for owners planning a sale. Compare with event venues across Grand Est and listings in the Haut-Rhin and in the Vosges, and create an email alert (in French).

DVF data does not cover this department: in Alsace-Moselle, sales are recorded in the Livre foncier (land register) and are not published in the DVF database, so the regional figures apply.

The type of municipality matters: across sales from mid-2020 to 2025, the median ranges from €125,500 (deep countryside) to €165,000 (peri-urban countryside). For a tourism business, coastal and tourist-inland municipalities are the relevant benchmark.

Like the rest of Alsace-Moselle, Bas-Rhin sits outside the DVF database, so the benchmarks are those of Grand Est. Large houses sold for a €550,000 median over 2021-2025, at 1,475 €/m², against 2,308 €/m² nationally in 2025, with a 90th percentile of €892,000. Around Strasbourg, where land is in short supply, an event estate may sit towards the top of that range. The €150,000 regional country house median only fits a small building to convert; the peri-urban figure (€165,000), typical of the Alsace plain, is closer. The business, permitted capacity and bedrooms then make the difference.
Strasbourg and the nearby Kochersberg form the main market for seminars, company evenings and conferences, served by the A4 and A35 motorways, Strasbourg TGV station and Strasbourg-Entzheim airport. To the south-west, the wine foothills from Marlenheim to Dambach-la-Ville combine vineyards, flower-decked villages and cellars, a favourite wedding backdrop, while the Bruche valley leads to the Donon massif.
In the north, the Outre-Forêt around Wissembourg, the Haguenau forest and the Northern Vosges regional nature park, with ruined castles and pink sandstone villages, offer more space at generally lower prices; Alsace bossue to the west is more rural still. Near Strasbourg you gain year-round corporate clients; in the valleys you gain the calm couples want.
Timber-framed houses, beaver-tail tiled roofs and barns with exposed trusses give local buildings their charm, but half-timbering needs regular upkeep and barns need full compliance works before hosting guests. A hall open to the public is an ERP (établissement recevant du public) of type L: permitted capacity is calculated under ERP rules (floor area, use, exits) and opening requires the opinion of the safety commission. Serving alcohol requires a suitable licence and an operating permit; on a takeover, check the licence and its transfer at the mairie (town hall). Amplified music calls for a noise impact study. The Ill, Bruche, Zorn and Moder flood, and loess hills are prone to mudflows. Our guide to buying a reception venue (in French) lists the checks.
European institutions, universities and a dense business base support weekday seminars and events that complement weekend weddings, and German visitors from Baden add to the mix. A venue close to main roads, with bedrooms or enough parking, captures this demand more easily.
Wine tourism draws many visitors to the foothills, and a cellar or press house suits receptions. Check the often strict planning rules in wine villages, public-access conditions and the split between farming and events. Our article on agritourism and wine tourism (in French) explains these activities.
Ask for an extract from the Livre foncier (the Alsace-Moselle land register), the latest safety commission report, the licence status and recent accounts. The property is conveyed by a notaire, while the fonds de commerce (the trading business) is transferred under its own formalities.
