Once a great supply vineyard for Paris, the Loiret has rebuilt two appellation poles: Orléans and Orléans-Cléry around Joan of Arc's city, and its share of the Coteaux du Giennois toward Gien and Briare. A vineyard for sale in the Loiret remains a rare property, on surfaces reclaimed step by step since the 1990s.
The department's appeal lies in its two outlets: the Orléans conurbation for direct sales, and Centre-Loire suction for the Giennois, whose sauvignons ride Sancerre's fame.
Orléans and Giennois: two reconquests
Around Olivet and Cléry-Saint-André, Loire gravels carry chardonnay (Orléans appellation) and cabernet franc (Orléans-Cléry); on the Giennois side, sauvignon and gamay-pinot share flint and limestone slopes continuous with Pouilly.
Producing surfaces remain limited and estates few: every transfer counts, and classified fallows offer development potential to whoever wants to plant.
The price of vineyards in the Loiret in 2025
Sales volume is too low for reliable departmental statistics: only a few transactions in recent years. Useful markers are the neighbouring Centre-Loire benchmarks and the valley's farmland price, marked up for AOC-planted plots.
