Between the Seine valley and the Beauce plains, a wedding venue for sale in Essonne (91) can draw on two markets: Paris-region families looking for a countryside wedding, and companies around the Saclay plateau, Massy and Évry holding seminars and team days. The south of the département offers the Chamarande estate, the château of Courances, Dourdan and its forest, the medieval heritage of Étampes, the Juine, Essonne and Orge valleys and the Gâtinais français regional nature park.
Venues typically occupy large courtyard farms, riverside mills, millstone villas or former coaching inns. This page helps buyers find an event venue, helps new operators assess a going concern and helps owners prepare a sale.

Large houses in Essonne sold for a median €887,000 over 2021-2025 (an indicative figure, given the small number of sales), well below the regional median of €1,263,100: this is one of the more affordable parts of Île-de-France for an estate with grounds. A venue departs from that benchmark according to hall capacity, rooms, parking and the business that comes with it. For a smaller hall or a farm to convert, look at country houses: a median €284,600 in 2025, up 3.5% since 2020.
The north, around Massy, Palaiseau and the Saclay plateau, is home to company headquarters, research centres and engineering schools: a seminar venue finds weekday clients there, but green space is limited. The Orge valley and the Hurepoix, towards Arpajon and Dourdan, balance access and countryside. Further south, the Étampes area, the Juine valley and the Gâtinais around Milly-la-Forêt remain rural, with big farmsteads suited to large weddings.
The A6 and A10 motorways, the N20 and the N104 ring road serve the area; Massy TGV station and Orly airport bring in guests from the regions and abroad, and RER lines B, C and D run into Paris. The further south you go, the cheaper the land, and the fewer the corporate clients.
Buildings mix sandstone, millstone and limestone; grain barns offer wide spans, but conversion means insulation, heating and toilets. A hall open to the public is an ERP (établissement recevant du public) of type L: capacity is calculated under ERP rules (floor area, use, exits) and opening requires the safety commission's opinion. Mills are charming, but the Orge, Yvette, Essonne and Seine valleys are flood-prone: check the risk maps at the mairie (town hall). Amplified music requires a noise impact study, and serving alcohol a suitable licence and an operating permit. Our guide to buying a reception venue (in French) covers each step.
As an indication, large houses in the département sold between €494,000 and €1,610,700 (10th to 90th percentile, DVF 2021-2025). A fitted, trading venue adds the value of its business. To see what you can borrow, try our borrowing capacity calculator (in French).
It is a common route in the south, but the building's use changes: ask the mairie about the local planning rules and the permits required before signing. Then cost public-access compliance, disabled access, parking and non-mains drainage, which is inspected by the SPANC, the local sanitation service.
The property is conveyed by a notaire, the public officer who handles French property sales, while the fonds de commerce (name, clients, contracts, equipment) is transferred under its own formalities. A compromis de vente, the preliminary contract, comes first. Ask for accounts, signed bookings and the latest safety report.
