Where the seller grazes meadows he rents, those plots stay outside the sale. Keeping them means negotiating a new lease with every owner concerned, each of whom may say no. The existing lease cannot be handed over to you unless it is a bail cessible, which is uncommon, or the transfer happens within a narrow family circle. The SAFER may also pre-empt when farmland changes hands, and livery or breeding usually counts as farming, which can require joining the MSA farmers' social security scheme beyond a certain scale.
