The Jura's Revermont, from Salins-les-Bains to Saint-Amour, carries one of France's most singular vineyards: Arbois, the first French AOC, Château-Chalon and its vin jaune, l'Étoile and the Côtes du Jura. A wine estate for sale in the Jura now draws interest far beyond the region: the worldwide standing of savagnin and ploussard has turned this small vineyard into a coveted market.
Supply remains tiny — around 2,000 hectares in production — and yearly transactions can be counted on two hands. The result: long search times for buyers, and real value opportunities for well-advised sellers.
Arbois holds the most estates and the bulk of sales; Château-Chalon, reserved for vin jaune, reaches the massif's highest values; l'Étoile and the Côtes du Jura offer the entry points. Grey and blue savagnin marls, limestone scree for chardonnay: every exposure is finely judged, with spring frost the vineyard's first risk.
A local particularity: small estate size (often under ten hectares) and the weight of direct sales. The customer base acquired with the estate — wine shops, restaurants, export — is an integral part of takeover value.
